I'm currently a BIG FAT man, have to lose 200 pounds. no choice here, health! I'm too old for much sex except in my dreams once in a blue moon. I don't feel sexy (the fat) My idea of a good thing is friendship, That said, I miss the fun dinner parties and weekend house parties of my time back East, not just two but as many folks as there are in the group. It is about nice dinners at home, drinks, talk, walks, that sort of stuff. Now as to who I am or who I have been, I graduated from a really good prep school, but as I was having too much fun, and maybe academic laziness, at that time in my life I did not get into an Ivy League college, (Harvard and Princeton were my first and second choices,) but it is just as well, as I don't think that I could have kept up had I been invited to attend. It was off to the University of Hawaii to study Oceanography, which as I love the sea and water and boats and sailing, Hawaii sounded nice to me. OK, it was nice, and after two years of science chemistry math and other courses that didn't work for me, I switched to Liberal Arts, and did just fine in History, Literature, Art, English, and all the fine arts. Got those degrees and five years of Hawaii was enough, so grad school was found in Paris, France, where I had intentions of earning two PhDs, and becoming a diplomat for a international non profit something like U. N. E. S. C. O. All that went to hell due to family finances, deaths, and THE STEPMOTHER FROM HELL'S arrival, That was 35 years ago, and changed my life completely. After settling my mom's estate I got a huge fortune dumped in my lap in the form of stock, which in the intervening years had fallen in value from $120. a share to less than $1 dollar. on a tax basis. That was still a lot of money, but nothing like what I was led to expect my entire life. So dumb needy me at age 24, decided to continue my life as I had been brought up to be and bought a Rolls Royce convertible, kinda cool for a 25 year old to drive about in, then saw the same two door car in the coupe version, so I had to have one of those too, then wanted a classic wooden yacht (my family all had their yachts) so I bought the one pictured,) in the mean time I flew back and forth to France where I had a house while I was in school, I owned that house for twenty years. I also had a beach house in Hobe Sound, Florida, and a Historic District house in New Castle, Delaware, and rented others as needed. I cruised in the boat up and down the Intercoastal Waterway from Nantucket to the Florida Keys every year, and ended up broke in ten years, flat broke, having never worked other than fun jobs as in fine wine cellars to learn about fine wines, or historical societies and museums to refine my connoisseurship. So I then at age 35 with zilch on my resume, and no network connections, I had to make a living. Minimum wage sucks. I first became a good butler to a very fine family, 'cause I know all that stuff, I used to have my own staff. Then got a job in a rare (books about books) book store (the biggest and best in the world), and another job as a grown stable boy for Mr. DuPont (this was in Delaware) to look after his carriage driving horses (he was a FINE man) I was bottom of the staff list, and he had many on staff. Loved the horses, dogs, and flock of peacocks, that were mine to look after too. Then on to Historical Society management jobs, and nonprofit fund raising executive jobs, and VP and General Manager of a direct marketing company in Boston that sold talking electronics for the blind. Ended my work days in Banking for Barclay's Bank, another wonderful company to work for, and decided to retire at 50 years of age, ten years ago. I would be happy to go back to work, but it would have to be interesting or lucrative -the concept of telecommuting intrigues me. I am a happy, kind, thoughtful, compassionate, sunny guy I know myself very well.
